Let's talk dance bags! You never know what you'll find inside, the smell is... less than great, and they are home to lost dance paws, single socks, and many water bottles!

We're here with our best tips to organize the chaos of your dance bag!
1- Utilize dance bags with special shoe compartments. This will prevent your sweaty shoes from transferring odor to the rest of your items. Bags with mesh zipper pockets for shoes are nice as well!
The bag below is very affordable, has both a shoe and water bottle pocket, and comes in many color options!
2- Add scented shoe balls, air fresheners, or shoe packets to reduce odor caused by sweaty clothes and shoes.
You can also create a DIY version by using baking soda, essential oils- optional, and a small linen bag or sewn cotton squares. Simply add baking soda to the bag and place it in your dance shoes after use! We recommend sewing them shut to prevent baking soda spills.
3- Clean out your clothes at the end of each week. Socks, street clothes, tights, and dancewear often get left in bags for weeks causing your bag to get smelly. Clean out and wash your clothes at the end of the week, so you aren't frantically searching for your favorite leo or wondering why everything smells like shoes!
4- Use the designated water bottle pocket. This one sounds simple, but tossing a water bottle in to the large compartment of your bag each day tends to add up! Those water bottles stick around until you run out of space or can't lift your bag off the ground! Using the side pocket will remind you to take out your bottle from previous classes before putting in a new one!
We love these water bottles for dance. They are large, bpa free, spill proof, and do a great job keeping water cold!
5- Create a designated space for snacks! Smashed crackers, old granola bars, and empty snack wrappers often fill the bottom of a dance bag. Choose a space to keep your snacks, so they don't get lost or forgotten.
You can use a bag you already have at home. Cosmetic bags work great for small snacks such as fruit leather, granola bars, or crackers!
This bag can be frozen to help keep perishable snacks cold- cheese sticks, applesauce pouches, etc.
6- Similar to having a designated bag for your snacks, your hair brush, small hair spray, rubber bands, and bobby pins need a bag to live in too! Any cosmetic bag will do the job here. These clear ones work great, so you can easily find what you are searching for!
My fav brush for dance:
Bonus- toss a magnet in the bottom of your dance bag! It might sound silly, but the magnetic will collect bobby pins and safety pins making them easy to collect if something spills!
